WETT Inspection

Comprehensive wood burning system assessment, inspection and recommendations. Keep your system burning safely and efficiently.

Most only need a Level 1 (Visual) Inspection, however we can perform Level 2 (Technical) or even Level 3 (Invasive) Inspections.

Chimney Cleaning

Remove creosote and debris for better chimney performance. Breathe easy with a clean chimney.  It may be for your insurance company or simply for peace of mind.  Getting your system maintained by a certified professional can meet and exceed your goals and expectations.   We switched to rotary power sweeping a decade and half ago, yes it is a more expensive solution or tool but it is FAR more efficient and effective.  There is simply no comparison between a good rotary power sweeping and a manual push broom!

We do not work on masonry chimneys any longer.  Realistically it is a job for a mason who is young and strong.  However we can and do help with the stainless steel chimneys or solid fuel appliances.

What is a WETT Certification?
WETT Certification is a credential for professionals who specialize in wood-burning technologies, including chimney inspections.

What Areas Do You Service”

Area is pretty much dependent upon what is requested. 

However, as I am retired I try to keep fairly close.  I will also help with obtaining stove models, chimney, etc.. or even consulting and answering questions.  

How do I get a WETT inspection or WETT certificate?

Your appliance (wood-stove, fireplace or furnace) cannot be WETT certified.

I often get requests for :

  • a WETT Certificate
  • a WETT Certification
  • a WETT Approval
  • verification it is a “WETT Certified installation.

Sometimes people will ask if the company is WETT Certified.

Each of these is WRONG/INCORRECT.  None of these terms EXIST.

What should be issued is an inspection report, completed by an individual who is WETT certified.

There is no SUCH thing as a WETT Certificate.

The appliance may be CERTIFIED – but by the manufacturer and not by WETT.

The person performing the inspection is certified by WETT.

What you need to do is contact a WETT certified professional to inspect your wood-burning appliance. WETT has adopted a process to help identify the level of inspection required.  Generally the inspection is best performed by a Chimney Sweep or Comprehensive Inspector – normally either of whom can also clean the chimney if necessary.

About us

Mr Soot has years of experience in solid fuel.  Primarily wood stoves and fireplaces.  However also with furnaces, pellet stoves, inserts annd pretty much anything that burns wood.  I have been WETT certified for a number of years now and enjoy learning.  With CSIA and WETT education, I am now a Comprehensive Inspector, Advanced Chimney Sweep and Advanced Technician. We are in retirement mode but still want to assist anybody who needs help.

We prefer using the best products available and will try to make them affordable, even though they are the best.  Do not settle for hardware DIY grade when you can do better!
